Make a Payment

Make a Payment During School or Grace Periods

  • Paying on your student loans before your repayment period begins is a great way to stay on top of your debt.
  • You are responsible for the interest on any unsubsidized Stafford loans throughout the life of the loan. Paying off your interest owing each month will keep you in control of your loan balance.
  • Consider paying ahead on the principal on your student loans. There is no penalty for making early payments on subsidized or unsubsidized Stafford loans or PLUS loans, and doing so will save you money later.
  • To make a payment while you're still in school, first determine your loan holder. EAC can help; give us a call at 1-800-592-1802.
  • You can mail your payment to your loan holder (be sure to include your loan number and your account number or Social Security Number). However, you may be able to have payments automatically deducted from your checking or savings account or make payments online. Check with your loan holder for payment options.

Make a Payment on a Loan in Repayment

  • Save yourself headaches. Make your student loan payments on time, every time.
  • Think about paying ahead on your student loans. There is no penalty for making early payments on subsidized or unsubsidized Stafford loans or PLUS loans, and doing so will reduce the amount of interest you have to pay.
  • Your loan holder provided you with a repayment schedule during your grace period. This will list the amount of your payment, the number of payments you must make, and when the first payment of both principal and interest will be due.
  • You can mail your payment to your loan holder (be sure to include your account number, or payment coupon). However, check with your loan holder for payment alternatives, such as having payments automatically deducted from your checking or savings account or making online payments.
